Lesson plan meaning and steps
Lesson plan is a plan of proposed classroom
transaction by the teacher. Lesson planning is the visualizing of class room
learning experiences to be provided by the teacher well in advance for achieving
desired objectives with in the given time frame.
Steps of lesson planning:
- Select an appropriate unit of subject matter
or topic.
- Develop subject matter.
- Annalise the subject matter into major
concepts and the sub concepts, principles and skills.
- Prepare and collect appropriate learning materials/aids.
- Select the most appropriate motivational contexts.
- Arrange the learning experiences in a logical
order and in preferred approach, technique or for the method.
- Decide the contexts/techniques for review and
summarization of the learning outcomes.
- Consider and select supplementary materials
and activities for providing the assignments to the students.
- Budget the time devoted to different phases of
the lesson.
- Select appropriate tools and technique for the
evaluation of the desired learning outcomes.
Importance of lesson plan
1. It helps the teacher to
delimit the learning experiences.
2. The lesson plan helps the
teacher to specify what to teach, how to
teach, how much to teach, how to create interest among pupils, how to transect
the learning experiences, what are the audiovisual aids to be used and mode of
evaluation to be done in the class room.
